Owing to a hurricane the intended review of the British fleet at Spithead, preparatory to the summer manoeuvres, has. been postponed till Monday.
COMMERCIAL. LONDON, August 3. (Reoolved Augusts, 1880, at 12 20 p.m.)
An off the coast cargo of wheat by the Victoria Bay, from Lyttelton, has been sold at 345.
Black Horse salt, 26s 6d. Tallow : Medium mutton, 26s ; beef, 245. The English and Continental wheat markets have experienced a general decline, but the American is steady. Forward business shows a decline in values. Foreign arrivals are moderate in quantity.

Tho Admiralty has ordered inquiries to be made into the efficiency and power of the Murphy torpedo service.

THE PORTE ON THE ALERT. CONSTANTINOPLE, Auoust 3. The Turkish reserves are being mobilised.
