A SMART PASSAGE.
[From Our Own Correspondent.]
WELLINGTON, August 8,
The Union Company have received a cablegram from Sydney announcing the arrival of the Hauroto last evening. She left Wellington on Monday afternoon, and made a splendid passage of about 100 hours. To accomplish this she must have steamed all the way at an average of 12£ knots. The Dupleix, which also left on Monday, two hours before the Hauroto, had not been signalled when the cablegram was despatched.
