The Bingarooma, Grafton, and Beautiful Star are discharging cargo at the Battray street wharf. The Eakanui left Fort rose at 10 a.m. yesterday; had light B.W. winds with fine weather up the coast, and reached Port Chalmers at 1 a.m. to-day; landed a part of her cargo, and steamed up to Dunedin at 11.30 a.m. She left again this afternoon for Waikawa.

The ship Pleiono was towed up from Port Chalmers this afternoon, and berthed at the cross wharf.

The brigantine Enterprise, from Napier, passed the Port to Dunedin at 1 p.m. to-day. The ship Ralston opened her hatches this afternoon, and will commence discharging cargo to-morrow morning. The barque Excelsior has completed ballasting, and is ready for sea. The s.s. Dupleix is landing cargo at the Jetty street wharf.

The ship Caitloch is taking in ballast at the Victoria wharf.

The Beautiful Star, with cargo and passengers from Oamaru, arrived at 9.35 p.m. yesterday. She If ft Oamaru at 3 p.m. ; had light westerly winds, with fine weather, down the coast.

An alleged case of boycotting has arisen amongst the Wellington shipwrights. Four men who bad concluded work oa a vessel applied to Mr Bailey for employment in repairing a barquentiae which was in dock. Their request was granted, but when they started, the other men employed on the work, twenty-five in number, threw down their tools, contending that it was unfair to allow men whs had finished a good job to come and take tho bread out of the mouths of mea who had been for many weeks unemployed. Mr Bailey had no option but to discharge the three men, as he is bouad to have the repairs finished within a specified time. The others then resumed work. ARRIVAL OF THE EALSTON. Tlio Bbip Ralston, which arrived yeßterday from Glaßgow, brines 1,769 tons of cargo. Captain Adams reports leaving Glasgow on April 4, and proceeded to Greenock; lay there until April 6, and then proceeded tosea, passing down the North Channel; had light favorable winds with fine weather across the Bay of Biscay, and took the first of the N.E. trade on April 22 in latitude 28deg 13min N., longitude 22deg 33min W. ; had Btrong trade down to latitude sdeg N. on April 24, and thence met a spell of doldrum weather, which lasted for ten days; the Equator was crossed on May 6 in longitude 24deg W., and the S.K. trade then taken up; it proved very poor, and was well to the southward, compelling the ship to lay «ff as far as longitude 86deg W. (which spoiled the passage), and was lost on May 19, latitude 23deg 21min, S„ longitude 36deg lOrain W,, forty-four days out. Thence she had a succession of very light winds with fine weather, making little or so headway worth speaking of, and crossed the meridian of Greenwich on June 4, in latitude 40deg SOmin S., sixty days out; still keeping light fair winds, she rounded the Cape of Good Hope on June 10, in latitude 40deg 50min S., and thence took the steady passage winds, which veered from fl.'W. to N.W., with fine weather all across the Southern Ocean, varied by an occasional gale, her maximum latitude in running down the easting being 44deg S.; she crossed the meridian of Cape Leeuwin on Ju'y 8, had fresh westerly winds, and passed the Island of Tasmania on July 15; thence she had strong westerly winds and very heavy weather until July 21, when she made her first landfall off the Snareß; had light variable winds from N. to N.W. along the coast, and made Cape Saunders on the morning of the 23rd inst.; had baffling winds, and stood off and on until yesterday morning, when#he ,took. a light northerly wind, which brought her up tp the Head?,

ARRIVAL OF THE WAIMATE. The ship reported off Cape Saunders at noon yesterday proved to be the Waimate, from London. She reached the Heads last night, and was tendered this morning by the Plucky, which brought her across the bar at 9.15 am., under the charge of Pilot M'Donald, and towed her as far as the Quarantine Ground, aa she has on board 23 tons of gunpowder. Her advent was rather unexpected, her arrival not being looked for for at least another ten days, considering the passages of the whole of the foreign vessels that have lately arrived here, none of them having made the voyageoutundeJ lOOdays. We congratulate Captain Canese in making the passage from port to port on eighty-two days, and from land to land in seventy-eight days. This ip, we believe, the record Captain Canese lias maintained for tho laat few years trading between London and Now Zealand. Notwithstanding the smart passage, it has been attended by very dirty weather whilst running down her easting. To use Captain Oanese's own words, the weather was the worst ho has ever seen—nothing but a succession of Btrong galeß with heavy rain and high seas from the time she passed the meridian of Greenwioh until passing the meridian of Cape Leeuwin. During one of the gales rer upper main topsail was burst and her decks completely filled, ono sea bursting open her saloon door, Hooding her cabin. After passing the Leeuwin the weather completely changed, nothing but light winds, with fine weather, being mot, owing to which she was enabled to carry all sail, her skysail not lhaving to be taken in from the Leeuwin until off Taiaroa Heads. No casualties occurred, and the Waimate comes into port in beautiful order. Mr Collins, who held a similar position on board the Orari, comes as chief, Mr M'Carthy being Becond, and Mr Kenear third. She brings 2,120 tons of cargo, 1,200 tons of which are measurement goods, and the remainder dead weight. We are indebted to Captain Canese for the report of the passage taken from his private journal:— Left the East India Dock* on May 2; towed to Gravesend, and after taking on beard 886 packages of gunpowder left at 1.30 p.m. on the 3rd; landed the pilot off Dover at midnight, andcastofftbetugoffßeachyHeadatß.3oa m. on the 4th ; was off Portland at 8 a. m. on the sth, when a densefog eet, in holding untilrnidnight; took her departure from Start Point on the morning of the 6th; had light variable winds with thick rain and heavy sea across the Bay of Biscay: took the first of the N.E. trade on the 24th. in latitude 19deg 45min N., longitude 25deg W., on the twentieth day out; passed St. Antonio (one of the Cape de Verdes) next day ; the trade was light, and was followed by lignt airs, with heavy rain, up to the Equator, which was orossed on May 31, in lougitude 26deg W., the same day taking the S.E. trade, which was squally, and attended by heavy rain; was compelled to tack in latitude 9dcg S., in order to clear the Brazilian coaßt; the trade gave out in latitude 29deg S. on June 11; had a succession of heavy gales from N. to W, and south, attended by terrific peas; crossed the meridian of Greenwich on June 23 in latitude 40deg P., and rounded the Cape of Good Hope on the 26th in latitude 43deg S.; still keeping similar weather, with occasional severe gales, one of whioh was on July 7, when a northerly gale set in, the barometer being down to 28.54, and at 2 a.m. on the following day ft W.S.W. gale set in, which buret the upper main topsail (a new one), the sea at the time filling her decks, bursting open the saloon door, and flooding her cabin ; passed the meridian of Cape Leeuwin on July 15 in latitude 47deg 30min S„ when fine weather set in, passing Tasmania on the 20th, in latitude 48deg S.;. fine weather with light northerly winds continued, and all sail was kept on, the vessel making her first landfall, the Snares, at G3O a.m. on the 23rd; was off Irwin Point at midnight, when she was becalmed for a few hours; a light westerly breeze sprang up, and brought her along the coast; was off Cape Saunders at 3 p.m. on the 24th, when she was a?ain becalmed, and reached the Heads last night. Neither ice nor wreckage wai seen, and the only vessel spoken was on June 11, the barque Lebu, from Liverpool for Vancouver Island.
