(Received July 18, 1889, at 12.20 p.m.) As Dom Pedro the Second, Emperor of Brazil, was leaving the theatre this evening he was fired at with a revolver by a Portuguese. The bullet went wide of the mark, and the Emperor drove off uninjured. WEST AUSTRALIAN LOAN. LONDON, Jcly 17. A Western Australian loan of LIOO,OOO is announced to be placed on the market on Tuesday. The minimum is fixed at LlO7 10s. COMMERCIAL. LONDON, July 17. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,700,000 quarters, and for the Continent 196,000 quarters. The American visible supply is 12,750,000 bushels. The English wheat market is firmer; the Continental steady; while the American has changed a little for the worse.
