MEETING OF CREDITORS.
The adjourned meeting of creditors in the estate of Ross Brothers, restaurant keepers, was held at the office of the Official Assignee this afternoon. Mr Wilkinson appeared for the bankrupts, and eight creditors were present. The Assignee stated that he had received a statement of the receipts and expenditure in connection with the bankrupts’ business transactions with Mrs Ross, Her receipts were LSI 12s lid and her expenditure L4B 17s 6d. The bankrupts had assured him that all the book debts had been collected, and Mrs Ross was at present some LI 7 out of pocket. There was still some money owing for water rates. Mrs Ross had begun with a balance of LI 7. After the creditors had examined the statement of the amount of moneys received from the boarders,
The Assignee said that if they were satisfied with the statement the bankrupts bad an offer to make. He might say, however, that Mr Hudson had a further proof of LSO on the estate, but there was a guarantee given by Mr Hudson that that claim would be withdrawn if the creditors accepted the composition. Mr Wilkinson said that Mrs Ross’s claim would also be withdrawn if the bankrupts’ offer—2s 6d in the £—was accepted. After some discussion had ensued regarding Hudson’s further proof of LSO. It was ultimately decided to accept 8s in the £, composition to be paid in full by August 7, failing which the Assignee would bring the matter before the Judge. The bankrupts would be recommended for their discharge should the composition be paid,
