THE NBNTHORN BEEF, THE EUREKA CLAIM. The trial crushing of one ton of ore taken from the Eureka Company's claim at Kenthorn was concluded at Kincaid and M'Queens Foundry, Dunedin, this morning, in the presence of a large number of persons, and resulted in a return of ten ounces of retorted gold to the ton of quartz. The ore from which this gold was obtained was taken from a reef nearly two feet in width, on which a shaft has been sunk to a depth of twenty feet. Ihe cake of gold is now on exhibit at the establishment of Messrs G. and T. Young, Princes street. A meeting of the shareholders was held at the office of the Perpetual Trustees Company this afternoon to place the business of the company in proper business trim, but up to the hour of going to press the result had not transpired. We understand the company contemplate tho immediate erection of a stamper battery, with all the latest gold-saving appliances, on theclaim, and to commence crushing operation* on an extended scale at as early a date as possible. Shares in the claim were sold to-day at tho rate of LI,OOO per seventn slums, and considerable trafficking is taking place in the stock, the tendency of the market being in the direction of hardening. IBy Telegraph.] Sydney, July s. —The deliveries of breadstuffs for the week were 186 tons of flour from Victoria, 294 tons of fluut from South Australia, and 51 tons of wheat from New Zealand.
