Caitloch, ship, 1,264 tons, Dorman, from London (March 16). Fas.t nger; Mrs Dornan Penguin, s.s., 462 tons, Bernech, from Nelson via Akaroa and intermediate ports. Passengers: Messrs MTnness, Cox, Buchanan, Hudson, Young; tbiee in the steerage. BAILED.- July 4. Kakauui, s.s., 59 tons, Beet, for Fortrose. July 5. Frank Guy, barquentine, 191 tons, M'Donald, for Auckland. The Kakanui left the Rattray street wharf yesterday afternoon for Fortrose. The barquentine Frank Guy was towed to sea this afternoon by the Plucky, and sailed for Auckland with a cargo of oats, flour, and ether produce. The K.M.S. Doric had taken on board 4,000 carcasses of frozen mutton at noon to-day. A large vessel, twelve miles E.N.E, was reported from Cape Saunders at 11.30 a.m. today, She will probably be the Alice, now 114 days out from New York. The Fengnin, from Nelson via Akaroa and intermediate ports, arrived alongside the George street pier at 0.45 p.m. to-day. She left Lyttelton (after transhipping a full cargo of produce to the barque Agnes Oswald) at 5.50 pm. yesterday, and called at Akaroa. Experienced fine weather down the coast. The Mabinapua took in cargo for the West Coast ports this morning, and will leave the Rattray street wharf at 6 p m. for Timaru. ARRIVAL OF THE OAITLOCH. The ship Caitloeh, which arrived at the Heads at noon yesterday, was towed across the bar by the Plucky, under the charge of Pilot M'Donald, at 2.80 p.m., and came to anchor in the Quarantine Ground at 3.E0 p.m. Owing to her heavy draft (20ft) she will have to bo lightened before towing up to Dunedin. She is under the command cf Captain Dorman, whose last v sit to this port was nine years since, in command of the ship Marrowdf.le. The CaitIcch’s passage has occupied 109 days from port to port—a rather long one for this fine vessel—and, to use Captain Dorman’s own words, a most tedious one, which is attributable to meeting with nothing bat easterly winds while running down her easting, although at the outset she had fine weather and tair trades, the Eqnator being crossed on the twenty-fourth day out. Taking all things into consideration and her being deeply laden, she has not done amiss. She has on board 2,322 tons of cargo, 1,128 tons of which are dead weight, and 1,194 tons measurement goods. We are indebted to Captain Dorman for the following report: Left London on March 16; carried easterly winds duWa Ohann.l, and took her departure from the Land’s End on the 21st with a moderate westerly breeze, which held across the Bay of Biscay; took the first of the N.B. trade on April 1 in latitude 26deg N. It was light, and gave out on April 8 in latitude 6deg 35min N., being succeeded by light variable winds; crossed the Eqnator on April 12 in longitude 2Sdeg W.; took the fl.B. trade two days later in latitude 3deg 39min S.; it was moderate to fresh, carrying her down to latitude 24deg S7miu 8. on April 24, when she met a strong easterly breeze; crossed the meridian of Greenwich on May 14 in latitude 42deg 18min S., and rounded the Capa of Good Hope on May 20 in latitude 43deg Bmm S.; thence had a suosesston of easterly winds with occasional heavy gales and high sea across the Southern Ocean; passed the meridian of Cane Leenwin on June 12 in latitude 45deg S., still keeping similar weather; passed. Tasmania on June 24, in latitude 47deg iSrain S.; had heavy gales from S.E. to N.E. with high seas up to the laud, sighting Stewart Island on the morning of the Ist jane, when the weather moderated; carried light easterly winds until noon on the 3rd inst, when a southerly breeve set in, bringing her along the coast; was off Cape Saunders early yesterday morning. Neither ice nor wreckage was seen, and no ships spoken; her easting being run down on the mean parallel of 48deg S. latitude. MOVEMENTS OF THE UNION STEAM SHIP COMPANY’S FLEET. Friday, July 5.
