AUCKLAND, July 1.
One of the most remarkable outrages that have ever taken place at a charitable institution occurred in Auckland on Saturday at the Home of the Little Sisters, in Shelly Beach road, when a man named Michael Ryan (who had been one of the inmates) revisited the institution with a knife in his hand. The sisters had to fly for their lives. Ryan then smashed about fifty panes of glass in the building, and did considerable damage to the chapel of the Home. He was eventually arrested. Ryan was brought up at the Police Court to-day and committed for trial.
