Marine Department, Wellington, N.Z., 24th June, 1889. ■VTOTIOE IS HEREBY GIVEN that ap_l3l plications will be recoived at this office for the appointment of Engineer Surveyor and Inspector of Machinery attached to this Department. Applicants to bo eligible for this appointment must havo served an apprenticeship as an engineer or iron shipbuilder, must be not IeBB than twonty-fivo and not moro than forty-five years of age, and must have served at sea in charge of engines for at least fivo years. Tbey must also, at the time of application, possess a first-class certificate of competency as engineer. They must forward a medical certificate showing that they ate in good health and of robust constitution. Applicants must givo full particulars of their servico on shore and at sea, and forward copies of any lotters of recommendation, testimonials, discharges, and certificates that they may posses 3. The salary payable will be at tho rate of L3OO per annum, increasing by L 5 a year to L 325. The snieoted applicant w'll be required to undertake the dutis of Engineer Surveyor, Inspector of Machinery, Examiner of Engines, and, generally, bucli work as ho may be required to perform by this Department.
