WELLINGTON, June 27
Mr J. R. George, C.E., manager of the gasworks, died suddenly of heart disease late last night. He had been about town as usual during the day. He was only fortyeight years of age, and came out twenty-five years ago as engineer for Kinnaird Bros., who built the extension of the Queen's Wharf. He constructed the patent slip, and upon the formation of the Gas Company took the post of manager, which he has held ever since, He occupied a prominent position in tho Chamber of Commerce, Harbor Board, and other local bodies.
