"YANKEE GRAB" ILLEGAL.
WELLINGTON, June 26.
Judgment in the appeal case of Ruddick v. YVethered, in which Ruddick, a publican, was convioted by the Napier Resident Magistrate of allowing "Yankee grab" to be pluyed in his licensed house, was given this morning. Judge Richmond upheld the conviction. Counsel for plaintiff contended that the English laws against gaming were not in force, hut the Chief Justice and Mr Richmond both held a contrary opinion.
