APPOINTMENT OF SCHOOL TEACHERS.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —" An Onlooker's " comments on the recent action of our loial School Committee, if Bevere, are, I believe, well deserved. I will add, for his and your readers' information, what has since leaked out from members of the Committee themselves—that the rector, in his " confidential report," placed the local (and successful) candidate lowest on the list of those sent down by the Board ! Really, sir, if this is to be taken as a specimen of the way in which teachers are appointed, one is tempted to say that instead of three names being too few, they are just three too many !—I am, etc., Observer. Port Chalmers, June 19.
