The ship lolanthe, of 1,55:5 tons, bound to Melbourne from Liverpool, ran into the ship Cape Verde, of 1,711 tons, from London, off Gellibrand's lightship yesterday evening. The Cape Verde iank almost immediately, but the crew were rescued.
Mr Vale (a Freetrader) has been elected member of the Legislative Assembly for Central Cumberland, New South Wales, rendered vacant by the death of J. R. Linsley. The death is announced of Mr John Sutherland, late Minister for Public Works for New South Wales. The South Australian Legislative Council sat all Friday night discussing a motion of want of confidence in the Government. At an early hour on Saturday morning a division was taken, when the Plaisted Government were defeated by three votes.
