SPEIGHT AND OO.'S PRIZE BEER. G. R. West, Esq., 135 Euaton London. Dear Sir,—Being intimate with ore of the principal supervisors of excise here I sent him a few dozen of Mossrs Speight and Co. 's Dunedin Beer with the object of getting the opinion of the Excise Chemist on it; and lam glad to say ho has pronounced it one of tho finest Beers he ever analysed, it having the high specific gravity of 10.80dep, the greatest amount of spirit and the least quantity of acid ho ever came across. When I tell you that every shipment of Beer going out of the Clyde must bo sampled by the excise officers and then analysed by thoir ohomists, I consider this opinion is better than anything else I could fay on it. At present tho Beer is too flat to fend to anyono not an expoit in tho trade ; but a<< soon aa it cornea into condition I will have it distributed. Yours voiy truly, (.Signed) ROBB, MOORE, AND CO. (Per D. H. Moore). A Correspondent writes :- LMtaso send mo some move of that Sl'KUM'r's Alk you aro bottling. I am very particular boat the beer I have, and hitherto havo had a down on "Colonial," preferring to pay tho nigher prico for tho best brands of English Bottled Ale. I must confess, however, that what you have sent mo pleases mo in every respect "as well as any I have evor used. Perhaps the great differenco in price between 10a and 14s a dozen ha 3 affected my judgment, but I do not think so. At any rate, so long as you maintain tho tjuality at tho samo standard yon should bo ab!o to supplant the imported article. To John Barron, 20 Rattray street. MELBOURNE EXHIBITION.
