A Gay Young Spark and a Defiant Family.

The Gisborne Coutt was occupied recently by the Ross family. Andrew SToung Robs, jun., was assistant town clerk and secretary to the Fire Brigade, and held oil shares. The shares rising in value he sold out, and purchased a holding of thirty aoreß of fine land near the town. On the strength of this he obtained timber, furniture, farm implements, etc., all on credit, by this means getting a nice little holding and a comfortable home. None of the creditors imagined there was a great debt against this young man, and did not f>resß him. A month ago yonng Rosa eft Gisborno suddenly with a servant girl, having previously obtained several suits of clothes from different tailors, an expensive watch (on trial) from a friendly watchmaker, and a complete " rig out." He cleared to San Francisco. Then the creditors began to find each other out, and discovered Ross had left L 250 indebtedness behind him. Mr Ross, sen., and his family, who are living on the property mentioned, stated that before Andrew left he conveyed the land to tho father in trust for his brothers and sisters, and sold his houee and effects to his father. The creditors, however, laid siege to the house, but for three weeks tho bailiffs were kept at bay by the whole family. One morning early the bailiff and Mr Whinray, execution creditor, got in, when a big rumpus occurred, the whole family turning out in their nightshirts and waging war. The besiegers were battered, a gun was pointed, and in twotwos Whinray found himself out of the back door, and the bailiff being hustled out of the front. The family were arrested, charged with assaulting the bailiff, and after a lively opening of the case the accused were remanded on bail.
