The amount of revenue collected at the Oustom-honse on (mods cleared to-day for consumption was LI, 30912s 3d. The immigration and emigration returns for the month of May show that the arrivals in the colony numbered 1,013 and the departures 1,148, Messrs Lightband, Allan, and Co. have filed a petition in bankruptcy. A late cablegram in the Australian papers states that 3,000 cases of Tasmanian apples were sold in tho London market on the 4th inst. and realised from 8s 6J to 13s fid per case. They were in fair condition, but the shipment of pears was found to be absolutely rotten. Messrs Dalgety and Co. have received the following cablegram from their Pydney office, dated 13th June: —“Wheat market very dull; impossible to make sales without sacrifice. Quotations nominally are: Tuscan, 4s 4d to 4s fid; Hunter’s, 4s to 4s 2d. New Zealand feed oats: Considerable quantities offered, bat demand is dull (3s to Ss 3d). Potatoes: Market unchanged (L 4 s*) ” The total revenue returns of Victoria for May amounted to L0R0,138, as against L637,00(> for tho corresponding month of last year. The total revenue for the eleven months of the present financial year was L 7,932,074, an Increase of nearly LBOO.OOO over the corresponding period of 1888, and an increase of L 788.835 over the estimate. It was estimated that tho total revenue for the financial year ending June 30 would bo L 7,702,624. The receipts for the eleven months already past exceed this estimate, and the Treasurer anticipates a surplus for the year of LBOO,OOO at least. THE LONDON MARKETS, Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received tho following telegram from their London office, dated 12th inst. “ Wheat : New Zealand (f.a q.) is worth (c.i.f. off coast) 32s Gd per 4801b nominal value. Frozen Meat: Mutton —market firm, stocks light, Canterbury is worth RJd per lb ; Wellington is worth 5Rd per lb; Canterbury lamb is worth fdjd per lb, Beef: Market unchanged.” MINING NOTES. It is reported that a discovery of gold has been made in Kuaotuna block, Coromandel, and a rush has set in.
