On the 20th nit. a contest took place at Brisbane for the amateur skating championship of Queensland and a gold medal, which, after an exciting struggle, was won by Mr A. F. Hatton, of Dunedin. Our Auckland correspondent gives the following as the latest betting on the Great Northern Steeplechase, which is run tomorrow 2to 1 against Oddfellow ;4to 1 Guy Fawkes ; sto 1 Artist and Recruit; 6 to 1 Orangeman and Don ; 10 to 1 Landseer and Shillelagh.
