EXHIBITION NOTES.

A well attended meeting was held in the Westport Town Hall last evening, when Mr Harris Hastings explained dettils connected with the representation of local exhibits. The opinion was unanimously expressed that it was necessary to have the district, etc., represented, and it was resolved to appoint a committee to collect subscriptions, and report in a week. It is probable that the district will take two or more bays, as the Westport Coal Company will likely exhibit in the Westport bays. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Hastings for bis speech and details. He leaves for Christchuch via Hokitika on Friday, speaking en route at Reefton, Greymouth, and Hokitika.
