LICENSING COMMITTEE.

MAORI HILL NORTH. The annual meeting of this Committee -was held at the store room of the paper mill, Woodhaugh, to-day, there being present Messrs R. Rossbotham (chairman), W. Davey, and A. Aaskoy. The Clerk intimated that only one application had been received—namely, from Mrs Eliza James, for the Woodhaugh Hotel. He also stated that, owing to the death of Mr James, licensee of the above hotel, the chairman had, in accordance with section 99 of the Licensing Act, authorised his widow to carry oa the business until this meeting.—lt was unanimously agreed to grant the license to Mrs James. On the motion of Mr Davey, seconded by Mr Aaskoy, a vote of thanks was recorded to Constable Miller for the very able manner in which he performs his duties within the borough. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting.
