ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
James Howard, a miner employed in the Raitangata Coal Company's mine, was killed on Tuesday afternoon by the fall of a head of coal at which be and another man were working. He leaves a widow and two of a family.
Sergeant-major Kennedy died suddenly at Blenheim last night. Deceased was an old resident in Marlborough, and was connected with the volunteers for a great nnmber of years. He came out with the first regiment that landed in Wellington over forty years ago; acted as drill instructor to the militia and volunteers in the district for many years ; and was much respected. _ A Oreymouth telegram states that William Wallace, a miner and hatter working at River View, was found killed in Ida claim this morning. He is supposed io have been dead for two days.
