GEOLOGICAL EXCURSION-AN EXPLANATION.
TO THB EDITOR.
Sm,—Someone has been good enough to send you a short account of a little geological excursion we made last Saturday. I only wish to mention that, so far as I know, the wire ropes, which alone render this pleasant scramble possible, are due solely to the thoughtfulnesß of Mr E B Cargill, owner of tho ground. At any rate it is only by Mr Cargill's kind permission that we are enabled to reach the locality, by passing over private land. Lest the paragraph in question, otherwise correct, might be taken to indicate a lack of appreciation of this kindness, I must beg your permission to make this explanation,—l am, etc., George J. Binns. Dunedin, May 28.
