LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting held to-day waa attended by Messrs Maitland (Chief Commissioner), Clark, Dallas, and Duncan. Mr W. L. Simpson, on behalf of F. G. Dalgety, applied for permission to select an area of forty-eight acres adjoining section 1, block 2, Ahuriri, on Ran 322, with the view of exercising his scrip under the Forest Act, and extending his plantation. Approved subject to payment of survey fees. Mary Dent applied to purchase fifty acres of section 45, block 1, Warepa, being portion of land withheld for bush reserve.—Referred to Ranger Hughan for report.

The Board proceeded to consider a statement from the Receiver of Land Revenue as to arrears of rent to 30th June next owing by the following perpetual lessees of High School endowment lands at Strath Taieri; — E. O'Connell, L 92 2s 9d; Andrew Harvie, L2O 4s 3d; Thomas Pugh, Ll7 7s 6d, Ll2 7s, L 23 Ba, and L 23 17s; Neil M'Fadyen, LSO 3s 4d; James Harrison, LIB lis 3a and LlB lis 3d. —Lessees to show cause on or before 26th June why their lease* should not be forfeited for non-payment of rent.

The District Land Officer at Naseby ret porting on an application by J. T. R, Hickson, on behalf of Thomas Healy, for cod lease of fifty acres on Run 2065, stated that he aaw no objection to the lease being granted.—Consideration adjourned for a fortnight, the runholder to receive notice. E. Goodchjld asked that his section 88, block 4, Catlins, be reduced from 25s to 12s 6d, the land adjoining being at that price'; otherwise ttyat his lease be cancelled.—The Hoard having nq power to reduce the price of laud, the license to be forfeited for nonpayment of instalments. Andrew M'Kenzie applied for section 2, block 14, Green vale, as rural land on per : petual lease.—Approved. Frederick Sparke applied to take op perpetual lease the southern portion of section 5, block 11, Greenvale.—Declined.

Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., on behalf of Thomas M'Lay, asked for the gracing right over sections 32 to 38, block 3, Dunedin and East Taieri district, on the usual conditions.—Consideration adjourned for a week.

John Carson applied for section 55, blopk 3, Tuapeka West, as rural land on deferred payment.—License to issue. Samuel Henry renewed his application to be allowed to purchase the whole of section 33, block 6, Tuapeka East, at L2 per acrej as his improvements extend over nearly the whole area.—Mr R. B. Martin appeared on behalf of John Sutherland to oppose.—The Board reaffirmed their resolution passed at a previous meeting.

Ranger Elughan was instructed to report on the value per acre of section 18, block 5, Table Hill, and as to the value of improvements, with the view of having the same notified.
