CITY COUNCIL REPORTS.

The following are aummaries of the various reports to be submitted at to-morrow night's meeting of the City Council : The Water Supply Committee report having granted the usual rebate of half the leakage in the account for special supply of water to the Post Office for the quarter ended Mareh 31; and that Messrs Anderson and Morrison's tender of L 24 for supplying u, ton of lead pipe for water services has been accepted. The Publio Works Committee in their report recommend that permission to erect a shed in Bond street be granted to the Buckeye Harvester Company: that an application by Messrs Sargood, Son, and Ewen to erect a cottage in Richardson street be granted ; that the Council contribute one-third of the cost of repairing the Eglinton road near the Town Belt; and that tenders be invited for repairing the Forth street Bridge. The City Surveyor has been instructed to act regarding the footpath at Upper York place and Mr H. Davey s application. The Committee also intimate that the respective applications of Messrs W. Wood, A. Hardie, P, Shirley, G. Lawrence, W. Kennedy, W. J. Birch, D. Brown, A. Tapper and Co., Miss Mackay, Dr Martin, and the New Zealand Implement Company have been granted. The Reserves Committee recommend that a fence be erected along the eastern side of the Southern Recreation Ground, They also intimate that the City Surveyor has been instructed to act regarding the dangerous state of a section in Maclaggan street; that the application of the Exhibition Gardens Committee for permission to obtain loads of soil from the Town Beit and Leith Valley has been declined; and that the police have been instructed to prosecute regarding the destruction of drinking cups in the Botanical Gardens. The Finance Committee report that in consequence of the increased cost of printing the burgess roll the selling price would henceforth be one shilling per copy of each ward.
