NEW PLYMOUTH, May 22,
A shooting accideut occurred near Opunake yesterday. A young man named Moray, in company with his brother, went into the bush, taking a loaded and cocked gun, and whilst waiting for his brother to join him, put the axe and gun together, standing on end. The axe slipped, and on Moray attempting to recover it the gun went on. The charge of shot lodged in his neck, also lacerating bis left hand. He was brought to the hospital.
WELLINGTON, May 22. Nothing further came out of the inquest on Mrs M'Kenna except that she was a woman of sober habits. The medical testimony was that she died from failure of the heart's action, and not by drowning. A verdict was returned accordingly. This is the fifth death lately through falling over the unprotected breastwork.
