UNQUESTIONABLY A HOAX. MELBOURNE, May 22,
The police have received a letter signed "Jack the Ripper," apprising them of his arrival, saying that he intends to commit crime, and asking them to catch him if they can. Although the police believe it to be a. hoax, they have taken precautionary measures.
