CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the above, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs Robin (chairman), Willis, Snow, Clarke, Monson, Green, Miller, and Dawson,
REQUISITIONS. The following requisitions were received : —Benevolent Institution, for May 18, L 557 9s Id. Resolved to pay balance of L 157 9s Id ; an interim payment of L4OO being made on the 7th inst,—Female Refuge requisition (amounting to L 10) passed for payment. —lndustrial School, Caversham, balance of claim of L 1,535 8s 6d (amounting to L 200), was passed for payment. ANNUAL REPORT. The Committee’s annual report as printed was approved, and recommended for presentation to the Board. STRIKING THE RATE. The Chairman reported that complete returns of the rateable value of property had not yet been received, and that he had written to the Property Tax Commissioner in connection with the subject. Until the information is to hand nothing could be done in regard to striking the rate for the year. A few formal matters were also dealt with. HOSPITAL BOARD. The meeting of the above was afterwards held, the same gentlemen attending. The hospital requisition of L 567 2s lid was passed for payment. The secretary was instructed to draft a circular inviting local bodies to pay contributions in accordance with the assessment of last year, in order to avoid incurring overdraft. The difference would, it was stated, be adjusted when the rate for the current year was struck.
