BANKRUPTCY ACT AMENDMENTS.
The ' Evening Post' has authority for stating that the Bill which the Government intend to introduce next session to amend the Bankruptcy Act will provide for the Resident Magistrates doing a lot of the work which is now performed by the Judges of the Supreme Court. It is proposed, for instance, that bankrupts should be subjected to a public examination by Resident Magistrates, leaving Judges of the Supreme Court to decide whether the insolvent shall receive an immediate discharge.
