HORTICULTURAL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,- I observe in your corresponding columns that a movement is on foot to start a new Horticultural Society. I quite agreo with your correspondent " Amateur" that the word new should he left out; and I also believe that all true lovers of horticulture should try and improve the old instead of forming a new society. Surely the "laws" or rules of our present Society are not like those of the Medcs and Persians, which cannot be altered. I have no doubt that if a strong body of true horticulturists were to meet—especially if they were mixed with a good sprinkling of the fair sex—they could devise ways and. means of improving the old society instead of starting a new one. So I siy, with " Amateur," let all lovers of tho art of horticulture meet and see what can be done.—l am, etc., Another Amateur. Duncdin, June 30.
