THE WOOL SALES The British and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company have received tho following wool telegram from Messrs Helmuth Schwartzo and Co, dated London, 6th inst. :—"Sales continuo flat. No improvement in prices Considerable quantities have been withdrawn. Trade on the Continent is very depressed." Messrs Dalgcty and Company have received the following cablegram from their head office, London, dated 4th inst :—" Wool sales continue flat; no competition, and declining tendency. Little demand for the Continent. Good greasy mcrinocs are Id, and good soured merinoes 2d (and sometimes more) below closing rates of last series." MINING NOTES. Mr T. Grose received a telegram from Lyell to-day stating that for twenty days' crushing tho United Alpine Company reduced 703 tons of quartz and obtained 6700z retorted gold.
