THE OHAU TWINS.

A curious exhibition, consisting of no less than a human curiosity in the form of twin babies inseparably joined together, is being given in Wellington. The babies are about four months old. Thomas Roach, until recently, has been carrying on business as a farmer and hotel-keeper at Ohau, near Otaki, on the west coast of the North Island. The twins ate dressed in long clothes, or, rather in & long frock, with double neck and body, and lay on a sofa attended by a female, a friend of the parents. They are joined together at the hip for about a couple of inches, and are almost perfectly formed in every respect. Both belong to the feminine gender. They were born at Ohau on November 23 last. One appears to be a rather sickly child. For the first seven weeks of its existence it lived without any food whatever, but it is now fed at the breast. It never cries aloud-, but its face undergoes all the slgniS of crying. The other child se'eihs tyuite healthy, and is fed on the bottle. Owing to the way in which they ate joined one child lies On her back aqd the other on her right side. They have been examined by Drs Collins and Kemp and others, who are of opinion that any attempt' to sever the twins would be attended with fatal results to one or the other, if not to both. A large number of persons have seen the twins. ‘Lyttelton Times ’ telegram.
