DRAUGHTS CLUB.
The adjourned meeting of draughts players held last night was numerously attended. Mr David R. Hay presided. The report of the Committee was in favor of renting a comfortable room in the Coffee Palace. After discussion this was unanimously agreed to. The annual; subscription was fixed at 10s, and entrance 2s 6d, payable in advance. The Club meet for the present every Monday right, arid, Should the number of members 1 justify it,. there may be more frequent meetmgs by-and-by. Mr J. S. Wilson was elected hon. secretary pro tem. Great hppes-are entertained that this will be the most successful draughts club that has ever bgen formed in Dunedin. When players know that they have such comfortable quarters, ft is : expected; that they will willingly join, and thus reap the advantage of being able to play with a variety of players, which is one of the . best means of improving their own strength and style of play. . Ttrttlty members have already been enrolled, butit is expected that, double that number will be on the roll before very long. Those wishing to join should apply to Mr J, S. Wilson* jaom tec., or to Mr D. R. Hay, At meeting office-bearers are to be elected.
