MUNICIPAL.
South Dunedin.— At the nomination for a member for South Ward in this Municipality to-day Mr George T. Clarke was nominated by Mr W. Meade and R, Healey. Mr Richard Healey was nominated by Mr M. M‘Kay, and seconded by Mr J. Vintener. Not often is a nominator of a candidate found opposing him. St. Kiuda. —At this Borough Council’s meeting last night a letter was received from Mr J, C. Burman, who called attention to the, injustice of the pound system. The matter was referred to a committee consisting of the Mayor and Crs Jones, Feltham, and Mitchell to report.—The South Dunedin Borough clerk asked the Council’s assent to the dallhlg of Sd conference with the object of getting an Act passed enabling Councils to take over land and borrow money for the widening of roads. The Council approved of the action taken. The inspector was authorised to expend money for necessary repairs to roads between the ordinary meetings of Council, and was directed to attend to the Anderson Bay road, and to the repairing
