AtoordiDg to resolution passed at its last half-y*«riy meatteg, iibe annual meeting of the UWfced Otago Dkteict, A.0.F., was held In the Foresters' Hall, Qaeeo**own, on Friday ©realag last. The JSistriot effiaere aid* delegates to the number of eighteen ajrived at Kingston by train, thenoe to Qaeeostowa by steamer, on Thursday evening. The meeting was therefore a larga one, a number of the Qaeeastown brethren being also present. The usual amount of correepsc* denoe and other business being got through, the half-yearly balance sheet was read, and showed the total worth of the district to bo L 2.339 4i 2J. The following officers were duly installed for the ensuing twelve months j-D.C R , Bro. W. G. Geddes; D.8.C.R., Bro. J. Rob~*tßon; D.S., Bro. W. Woedlands ; DT, Bra. M&cfie; D.8., Bro. W. G. Wilkinson; auditor, Bro. Youngman; trusts, B». P. Gibson. A donation of LlO 10* was voted to the looal hospital. The usual honors to the retiring C.R., Bro. W. Ibbotson, were carried unanimously. It was decided to hold the next District meeting at o*m*ru in August. After the meeting tho members and friends were banqueted by the Queecstown Court at the Harp of Erin Hotel, by Mrs M'Bride, widow of the late Bro. M'Brisk, The spread and get-up of the banquet were a credit to tho folk of Qaeeastown— sverybhing being in first-claws style. After ample justice had been done to the good things provided, toasts were given and rMs>-*nded to in some very neat speeohes. Bco. Crofte acted as chairawm, and Bro. Matheeon as vice. A dance was also pr#v!d*d for those who felt inclined, On the following day a profession of Foresters took place, headed by the local band. A plaosure trip to the head of Lake W&katipu was also arranged, and over 100 passengers took adraatage of it. The scenery of the Leke was the subject of much admiration by all on board, who thoroughly e»joyed tho day's ouWng. A pionio in coiwneeHon with the trip added more novelty to the occasion, which will be long remembered in tho thriving district of Queenstown. A large number of visitors are stopping a day or so viUUng the Arrow district and other sights in and around Queeottown.
