Consideration of them waa adjourned till this evening.—The following borough statistics were prepared by the valuer:—

Port Chalmers—The meeting of this Council was attended yesterday evening by the Mayor (Mr W. lunis), Crs M'Kwwsie, Perry, Law, and Morkane.—The secretary of the Fire Brigade requested to bo supplied with 500 ft of cauvaa hose, and a»ked that the amount received by the Counoil f»©m tho United Insurance Association bo pkoed for that purpose.—Mr E. G. Alltm, manager of tho Quarry Company, requested that *h« boundary line between the Company's and Mr Boriase's quarries be pegged off in accordance with the original leaso.—Mr Bs> lase requested permission to blaeb in the quarry le&Bed by him from the Corporation. Granted, subject to the u*ual rog»latiooi.—
Cr Grinley'a Beit for East Ward was declared vaoant.—The balanoe-rtjeeta »«d auditors' report for the year ended December 31, 1880, were laid on the table and adopted.— The Quarry Company's account fur L 26 for the supply of 208 loads of stone at 2s 6i per load waa ordered to be returned for ooireotlon, the C»uucil considering that they w«ce only indebted in the sum of Ll9 7» 3J.— Cr gave notice of motUtx that at next meeting ho would move—- " That a public meeting be called t<t consider the question of a resident magi?, trate for the town," —Mr Menelwis's tender for repairs to the ta»k Emm*, for the sum of Ll3 15«, was accepted.— The Water Committee reported—" That the dietanoe from the maina In Harrington street to Mr Dwghlas'a property is U3tt, and from Mr Doughlaa'a to Mr HinoliftVs, 81ft. total 194 ft; and that the ooat of material and laying of pipea it estimated at Lls 15i 6d, and the revenue from water rates for the
yearL2 lis 6d. Therefore, we consider it prudent to leave thJi application in the hands of the Counoil to deal with." The report waa ordered to lie over until next meeting.— The special committee reported re blasting, "That the house of blasting he fixed between the hours of 11 and 12 o'clock in the forenoon and 2 and 3 o'okek ia the after, noon ; and before any blast is fliea a man be eent along each road or etroet where the public have aooeaa with a red flag, and that notiee re ais* given from the quarry by blowing a bora of tarvmpet; the qaarrymen to take all neoeeaaty preoautioeia with netting or other applianees to prevent Mae rooks flying, and to undertake all reepoaalbility.— The Works Committee reported having examined the minutee of the meeting of tho Old Town Board, held on January 5, 1865, and found that the dark was instructed to oautien the proprietors of the building now known as Dodson's Bond (then in ourse of erection) that the same waa partly on the
street line, and that the responsibility of the building would rest with the proprietors; farther, that the Board's olerk carried out the instructions on the following d»y, and & reply thereto, dated July 7, 1805, was duly received from Mr John Bothgate, for himself aod other proprietors, stating that they did to* found any title to the land encroached on, and declared to hold themselves bound to take down the building at any tims when requested, and to erect it on their own land. Mr Bathgate further offers th» Town Beard L 5 a-year for the privilege of using the additional land. Your Committee b*ing aware of the intention of the proprietors of adjacent laud to erect buildings thoreon, are of opinion that notice shou\d at once be given to the proprietors of the Bond to remove the buildiag to the limite of the street, according to the temis of Mr Bathgate's letter of July 7, 1865." The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Bathgate in accordance with the forereport.
