ARTISTS AND WRITERS
CUP AWARDED TO MEMBER
The annual award of the Shakespeare Cup for the finest painting was presented to Mrs.-McQuarrie at the recent annual meeting of the New Zealand Women Writers and Artists' Society. Mention was made of the fact that four members and one ex-member had gained honours in recent one-act play competitions held by the New Zealand branch of the British Drama League, a competition open to writers all over New Zealand. Miss J. McLeod, of Christchurch, won the B prize, Mrs. B. Wilson, the first prize in the general section, and Miss V. Spurling, of Auckland, the second. Mrs. Audrey King, of Wellington, was presented with the Sir Michael Myers Cup for the best play presented at the festival on a New Zealand subject. Madame Bligh was placed fourth.
