NAVY'S ROAD OPEN
MINEFIELDS CLEARED
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, September 4. The way is now open for British warships to land their occupation forces at Singapore. The 6th Minesweeping Flotilla of the British East Indies Fleet has finished the job of sweeping a path through the Strait of Malacca. Earlier, news was received that four Japanese minesweepers arrived alongside the Cleopatra. They were later joined by eight other craft. The Cleopatra, with the Japanese following her, sailed to meet the Sussex, the flagship of the commander of the naval force sent to reoccupy Singapore.
