A NEW GENERATION
ARISTOCRATIC JUVENILES
Another generation of racehorses will contest the Debutant Stakes at Wanganui next month. Twenty-two juveniles claim engagements in the event, which will be run over four and a half furlongs, and of the number . only three have not had, names registered for them. The following are particulars of their families:— Blue Tie.—Brown filly by Gynermm from the Beau Pere —Barbacan mare. Chevychase, the dam being a sister to Taurangi, winner of the W.R.C. Thompson Handicap, Waikato Cup, Stratford Cup, and runner-up to Sejenata in the New Zealand Cup of 1940. Blue Tie was bought at the National Sales by Mr. H. F. Wood, of Wellington, for 430gs, and will carry his colours. Kh-kstymac—Bay filly by Nizami from' the Vaals—Damesia mare Valdene, and tracing to Momi, a half•sister to Lady Bobs (grandam of Nightly). Was bought at the sales by Mr. T. Coltman, Wellington, for 340 guineas. Chatsworth's Pride.—Chestnut filly by Chatsworth—Fiddledine, by Laughing Prince from Acco, thus a half-sis-ter to Hayduk and Great Pleasure. Was secured from Mr. C. Jones, her breeder, by Flight Sergeant R. L. Buckenham. ' Mr. Pym — Bay gelding by Gynermm from the Weathervane mare Lady Pym, dam previously of Killeymoon and Leighon's Glory. Was bred by Mr. J. J. McGrath, of Wellington, but will carry the Colours of Mr. T. P. McGrath, of Bulls. • . Julius Caesar. —Bay colt by Beaulivre from the Lacknam—Jean Laddo mare Lackalady, thus belonging to the same family as Dungarvan (Feilding, Marton, and Egmont Cups) and Haughty Winner (Dunedin Guineas and Champagne Stakes). Was purchased at the National Sales by Mr. T. R. George, of Masterton, who has the sire at his stud. HIGH-PRICED YOUNGSTER. Rosswood.—Brown colt "by Foxbridge from the Robespierre—Toti dal Monte mare Haughty Toti, thus a halfbrother to Gigli, winner of the W.R.C. Wellesley Stakes, Nursery Handicap, and C.J.C. Champagne Stakes. He was secured at the 1 sales by Gigli's owner, Mr. S. J. Newland, Wellington, for 1500 guineas. Blue Simon.—Bay colt by Revelation from The Ace—Volopia mare Lone Flier, thus a half-brother to Black Simon, and closely related to Capris (A.J.C. Epsom Handicap, etc.). Was bought by Mr. F. Lysons, of Wellington, at the sales for 425 guineas, but he will race in the interests of Mr. S. K. Bhatter and Mrs. J. E. Riley, of India. Gay Tide.—Chestnut filly by Tiderace from the Gainscourt —Bess Laddo mare Gay Laddo, thus closely related to Manawatu, and belonging to the same family as Erination and Flying Spy. Was bought at the sales by Mr. W. B. Scott, Wanganui, at the low figure of 120 guineas. Opulent.—Bay > gelding by Legatee from the Lord Quex —Asturisca mare Astrite, thus a, full-brother to Blue Moon, who was the first of the progeny of the dam. Like the older member, Opulent will carry the colours of the Hastings trainer, T. McAvinue. Scroll. —Black colt by Parchment from the Paladin—Mazabuka mare Zarisee, dam earlier of Dollar Bill. Pay Roll, Theorist, and Controller. The latter .pair carried the colours of Mr. T. Coltman, of Wellington, as will Scroll. Yalta.—Chestnut filly by Sporting Blood from the Solferino —Dame Straitlace mare Mistress Quickly, thus a half-sister to Sir Hugh and Lyndon Lea. Dame' Straitlace was .a halfsister to Adjutant, winner of the W.R.C. Handicap 'and Autumn Handicap, and her dam, Discipline, was unbeaten at^two years. Yalta was bought at the sales "by Mrs. K. Cresswell. Eastbourne, for 90 guineas. White Diamond. —Grey gelding by Theio from the 'Arausio —Lucmette mare Araunette. and thus comes from the same 'family as Star Stranger (A.J.C. Metropolitan Handicap, G.N Derby, New Zealand St. Leger, etc.^ Araunette did not race, but her sister, Flammarion, was a good performer. White Diamond was bought at the sales by the Hawera trainer O. Cox at 425 guineas, but the gelding will race in the interest of Mr. T. J. Hurley, of Normanby. • Enard Bay.—Brown filly. by Phaleron Bay from Deep' Purple, who was got'• by Vaals from the Diacquenod mare Golden Rod, dam also of. Veldette. Supercharged, and Dark Diana. Is owned by Mr. T. D. Baker, of Rae-: tihi. , • Rcyai Baron. —Bay colt by St. Boswells from the Baralong—Torquay mare Lady Baron, dam- also of Master Baron, who was a winner at two years and again last season. Will be raced by Messrs. G. and T. McLaughlin, Petone. TWO REPRESENTATIVES. Bulaselle—Bay colt by Bulandshar from the Nassau-Gwynelle mare Nasselle, thus a half-brother to Improvement (a winner in Australia) and to Lifeguard, winner-of several races in this country. Nell Gwynne, the youngster's third dam, was a sister to Cadonia, winner of the A.J.C. St. Leger, Sydney Cup, and V.R.C. Handicap. Was bought at the sales by the Otaki trainer T. Webster for 460gs, but will race in the interest1 of Mr. L. M. Rankine, Wellington. Beau Raide. —Bay colt by Beaulivre from the Day Comet —Border Raid mare Day Raid. This is a little-raced family on the maternal side, but the youngster's fifth dam, Flitaway, was a half-sister to Fairhaven, the ancestress of Waterline, Fast Passage, Good Scout, etc. Was also bought at the sales on behalf of Mr. L. M. Rankine for 150 guineas. Coup de Vent. —Brown gelding byj Gynerium from the Roydon—Lady Ball mare Princess Ball, the dam* being a half-sister to La Moderne and Ballerina, who were both high-class performers, Ballerina being a big winner in Australia. Was bought at the sales nn behalf of Mr. D. H. Simpson, Marton, for 310 guineas. Indira.—Grey filly by Nizami from the Dignity—Queen Warbler mare Dignified, thus a half-sister to Benevolent, Mazzini. and Verify. Queen Warbler was a half-sister to Yaffle, the grandam of The Trump, winner of the Melbourne and Caulfield Cups, and hey dam, Yippingale, was a half-sister to Traquair and Chersonese, the latter being the dam of Heroic. Was bought at the sales by Miss H. Collinson, of Palmerston North, for 430 guineas. Cinereous. —Grey gelding by Foxbridge from the English-bred mare Grey Eagle, by Grey Fox II from Anthea, thus a brother to Falconbridge, and from the same family as Bayardo, Lemberg, Blair Athol, etc. Bought at the sales by Mr. W. R. Stead, of Hastings, for 1600 guineas., is to carry the colours of Messrs. J. and L. McMillan, of Palmerston North. NAMES NOT REGISTERED. At time of writing names had not been registered for three of the prospective runners, the trio being:— Chestnut filly by Sir Beau from the Lackham mare Charmante, whose dam, Hinearoha, was got by Boniform from the Sir Laddo mare Lady Laddo. Charmante is a half-sister to Maui, Arikira. Pheon, Rustem, Triple Crown, and Athenian. Was bred by Mr. V. E. Bryant, of Foxton. Filly b^ Gynerium from Endorsement, by Iliad from Endorse, by Paper Money from Epitaph. Was bred by Mr. A. F. Symes, Hastings, who is now racing the elder half-sister.. Negotiable (by Coronach), and of whom big things are expected this season. Gelding by Phaleron Bay from No Humbug, by Humbug from the San Fran mare Sunniva, thus a halfbrother to Gold Bug and Master Francis. Was bred by Mr. E. Nixon, Wanganui. ■'
