NEW ZEALAND EIGHT
Rec. 10.45 a.m
LONDON, August 5,
In the final of the eights at the Hammersmith Regatta, the Australian Air Force crew was first and' the Barnes Club second. The New Zealand Services eight was third. A canvas separated the first two boats. The New Zealanders were ten lengths back. The Australians won in a grand fighting finish, after rowing stroke for stroke with the Barnes Club throughout the race.
The New Zealanders, who sadly lacked condition, dropped behind quite early. The Barnes Club crew was stroked by Bert Barry, ex-world's professional sculling champion.
