URGENT RAILWAY WORK

The condition of the railway lines between Wellington and Summit and between Wellington and Paekakariki calls for relaying as well as maintenance, and the Railways Department is calling for volunteers for six months' work on these sections. It is stated by the Department that the need for the work is urgent, and that the manpower authorities will give favourable consideration to the temporary release of volunteers from certain essential industries, including the Publiv Service, reserving their right 'to re-establish-ment in their former position on the termination of the railway service work. Application should be made, in person or by writing, to the Staff Clerk, District Engineers' Office, Wellington Railway Station.
