TO FIGHT JAPAN

LARGE BRITISH AIR FORCE

LONDON, June 22

The United States Army Chief of Staff, General George C. Marshall, told the House of Representatives in Washington tonight that a large British air force would operate against the Japanese in the Far East. \

General Marshall said that the maximum bombing effort againsfl Japan would be reached by next March or April; but before then, by the end of this summer, 1000 SuperFortresses would be in^daily use.

He said the great question of whether or not Russia would fight Japan made it impossible for him to forecast victory at any given date.
