14 DAYS FOR ASSAULT
Charles Holland, chef and labourer, pleaded guilty ih the Magistrate's Court yesterday to a charge of assaulting a taxi-driver on May 6 and was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. Sub-Inspector Mclntyre stated that the taxi-driver was about to leave a city stand to go to Strathmore Park to collect a fare when he was approached by a party of people who wished to be taken 'in the. opposite direction. The taxi-driver explained that he could not take them. Holland was passing at the time, overheard the discussion, and, after saying that if the party had consisted of Americans the taxi-driver would have taken them, struck the driver. . .. .
