ROLE OF KOREANS

LONDON, June 8,

In Washington today the U.S. UnderSecretary of State, Mr. J. T. Grew, said that the. people of Korea may be able to "play an'increa'singly important role in the defeat of Japan, and in their own liberation.

He also said of Korea's •post-war position as an independent nation that the United States would avoid taking any action which might compromise the right of the Koreans to choose their own form of Government.
