RELIEF IN BRITAIN
Rec. 12.30 p.m
LONDON,, June 8,
"The Russian concession at San Francisco on the veto problem will be received by men of good will and intelligence throughout the world with deep relief," says the "Daily Mail," in an editorial. "This is the most hopeful sign for the future that we have had since ihe end of hostilities in the west, because the long-negotiations at San Francisco and the deadlock on the veto question have caused grave disquiet among the civilised nations.
"Moscow thus has made a generous and momentous gesture, one which will do much to restore confidence on all sides. We can now look forward to the easing of the situation between Russia and her friends in connection* with other matters. We may also now hope for the relaxation of some of the restrictions which the Russians have enforced in the European territories they have occupied, especially in the Balkans, and for the free interchange of views on this matter, which is so urgently needed."
