ADDRESSED BY LEADERS

SAN FRANCISCO, April 26. At the first plenary session of the United Nations Conference on International Organisation today the meeting was addressed by - the < Foreign Ministers of the four convening countries, Mr. Stettinius, United States, Mr. Molotov, Russia, Mr. Soong, China, and Mr. Eden, Great Britain.

In the morning there was a conference of the leaders of delegations of the 46 participating nations to work out procedure.

. The New Zealand and Australian delegates attended the lengthy meeting of the steering committee, Mr. F. M. Forde, who sat to Mr. Molotov's left at the same table, described the general atmosphere as one of good feeling. The committee adjourned till tomorrow morning without making appointments to the executive committee, but Mr. Forde said he was hopeful • that Australia would get one of the 13 seats on it. The importance of obtaining; a place on the executive committee , lies in the fact that it would" enhance Australia's chance for • representation on the highly important security council.
