TREATMENT OF PRISONERS Rec. 9. a.m. WASHINGTON, April 27 Brigadier-General R. W. Berry Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, told the* House of Representatives Military Affairs Committee that the War Department was determined to adhere to the Geneva Convention relating to prisoners of war, notwithstanding the Japanese and German mistreatment of American prisoners. Brigadier-General Berry revealed that approximately 390,000 prisoners of war were held in the United States.
