HUGE AMERICAN FORCE

ONLY OPPOSITION FROM FISHERMEN

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) Rec. 9 a.m. NEW YORK, February 26. The only shot fired against the huge American task force as it steamed towards Tokio Bay came from a fishing boat 100 miles offshore, says the Associated Press correspondent on board Admiral Mark Mitscher's flagship. Naval pilots saw an American destroyer hail the boat, whose skipper replied with a burst from three-inch guns.

. The destroyer made a couple of turns out of range to give the fisherman time to reconsider. Finally, the destroyer opened fire, and the fishing boat disintegrated in a ball of flame. The skipper was picked up from the wreckage, injured and burned.
