AUSTRALIAN REDEMPTORIST

The Rev. Father Brennan, C.SS.R., Wellington, has received the following cablegram from the Rev. Father Cullen, Provincial of the Redemptorist "Order in Australia: "Radio message from Manila by Father Cosgrave said, 'All safe and well.'"

Last Monday a cablegram from New York stated that Father Superior Francis Cosgrave, of the Redemptorist Order, described from his bed in a hospital how laughing Japanese bayoneted him and killed scores of other civilians. Father Cosgrave, a member of the A.I.F. in the last war, was, with several other priests and a number ofprominent Spaniards, trapped when a Japanese officer and 20 soldiers invaded Lasalle University.
