BATTLE IN ATHENS

POLICE AND COLLABORATORS Rec. 9 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 1. A fierce battle between rcolice and a group of Greeks who were formerly employed by the Gestapo broke out last night in Concorde Square, in the centre of Athens, reports the British United Press correspondent at Athens. Eight men, one of whom was notorious as a torturer for the German police, were attempting to escape from Athens by car when the police stopped them. The men opened fire with revolvers and machine-guns and threw hand grenades. One police officer was killed and four men were arrested.
