NEW HEADMISTRESS
A WELLINGTON TEACHER
A former pupil of Auckland Girls' Grammar School, Miss Rua Isobel Gardner, M.A., Wellington, has been appointed by the Auckland Grammar School Board to be headmistres sof the school in succession to Miss E. M. Johnston, M.A., who will retire in December, after 19 years' service./ Miss Gardner has spent nearly the whole of her teaching career on the staff of Wellington East Girls' College, which she joined in 1925 after leaving
Auckland Girls' Grammar School, where she was school games caotain and a prefect. She attended Victoria University College. She graduated B.A. in 1922 and M.A. the following year with honours in philosophy. In 1924 she took a course at Wellington Training College and did relieving work fpr a short period at Wairarapa High School. She obtained the University Diploma in Education in the same year. Miss Gardner is a member of the Federation of University Women and a number of- other educational and social organisations in Wellington.
