LANCASTER TO BE CIVIL AIRLINER

The famous British Lancaster bomber will' be one oil the world's foremost civil airliners,. states ■ Colin Bednall, London "Daily Mail" air correspondent. A series of tests has' shown that this aircraft can be converted rapidly into an air transport which, in the opinion of experts, is better .even than the Avro York transport version of the Lancaster. It will have a better performance, longer range, and a considerably higher speed than any transport likely to be produced by overseas aircraft industries before 1946. It is anticipated that the Lancaster aircraft, which are already being flown across the Atlantic as freighters, will be the first to be used as civil airliners on a non-stop London-New York service.

Mr. W. Appleton was re-elected chairman of the Wellington Technical College Board of Governors last night.
